Grinding splints
- for the prevention of temporomandibular joint disorders and abrasions
Unresolved stress usually triggers us to clench our teeth while we sleep. The stress is "bitten away", so to speak. High chewing forces lead to the enamel gradually wearing away, tooth necks are exposed and the jaw joint is stressed. Patients often report morning tension in the chewing muscles, headaches, neck pain and tension as well as ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Grinding marks on the teeth (abrasions) and tooth neck defects can also result from this.
The remedy is a custom-made bite splint, a so-called "grinding splint", which is worn at night. The chewing muscles and the jaw joint are relaxed and the teeth are protected. We will be happy to make you an individual grinding splint. The costs are currently covered in full by the statutory health insurance funds, so that you do not have to make any private co-payments.
