Splint therapy

Splints can be used to prevent wear and tear of the teeth due to grinding, eliminate functional disorders of the masticatory apparatus with impairment of the face, head, neck and back, as well as night snoring. Each splint is individually adjusted to you.

Grinding splints

  • for the prevention of temporomandibular joint disorders and abrasions

Unresolved stress usually triggers us to clench our teeth while we sleep. The stress is "bitten away", so to speak. High chewing forces lead to the enamel gradually wearing away, tooth necks are exposed and the jaw joint is stressed. Patients often report morning tension in the chewing muscles, headaches, neck pain and tension as well as ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Grinding marks on the teeth (abrasions) and tooth neck defects can also result from this.

The remedy is a custom-made bite splint, a so-called "grinding splint", which is worn at night. The chewing muscles and the jaw joint are relaxed and the teeth are protected. We will be happy to make you an individual grinding splint. The costs are currently covered in full by the statutory health insurance funds, so that you do not have to make any private co-payments.

Balancing splint therapy

  • in jaw joint and chewing muscle disorders

We work closely with specially trained physiotherapists for jaw joint complaints in connection with muscular tension (myoarthropathies), usually painful tension of the chewing muscles and/or neck muscles. In combination with our crunching braces, this therapy makes an excellent contribution to relieving your pain.

After a comprehensive diagnostic examination of your jaw joint complaints, we will show you simple exercises that you can do at home at any time. In addition, you get an individually adapted rail.

Snoring splints

  • Effective help against nocturnal snoring

For many, snoring is a disturbance of the night's sleep. It usually occurs by relaxing the palate and tongue. This narrows the natural airway during sleep. This causes a vibration of the soft tissues in the throat during breathing, which causes the snoring sounds. An effective aid against annoying snoring is a custom-made splint, which is worn during sleep. This transparent, comfortable to wear snoring rail keeps the lower jaw and thus the airways free without the need for surgery.
We perform the snoring splint therapy in close cooperation with the treating specialists in throat, nose and ear medicine (HNO).

However, this therapy is not suitable for certain rare forms of snoring, e.g. with respiratory failure. We are happy to answer any questions you may have in person.
